End user client specifications

Deployment of FactoryLogix User Portal applications is typically done one of two ways:

Direct installation on a user’s PC which can be done through a full installer or self-service via Microsoft’s ClickOnce technology. ClickOnce allows end users to deploy the applications from a hyperlink without the need for administrative privileges on their PC.
Deployment on one or more Windows Remote Desktop Services (RDS) Servers which then service end-users via a variety of thin client devices via Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) including Chromebooks, Android tablets, iPads, and Windows devices. Android, Chromebook, Windows, and Apple iOS support RemoteApp technology, which allows FactoryLogix user portals to be run individually on these devices from a Windows RDS Server.

Choose endpoint devices carefully to match the ergonomic needs of the particular work area.

The following tables describe the requirements and considerations for both deployment scenarios.

Remote Desktop Services Server for FactoryLogix production portals

RDS Server requirements

Item	Description
CPU type	Intel® Xeon™ E- Family (E3/E5/E7) or newer or AMD equivalent. Intel Core i7, i9 if appropriate for number of cores.
CPU cores	1 CPU core (2 hyper-threaded processors) per 5-7 users. For example, to support 50 users, about 8-10 cores would be required.
System memory	4 GB Base for Operating System + 500MB/user. For example, to support 50 users, 29GB of RAM would be required.
Networking	1,000 Mbps or better Ethernet
System partition	100 GB System partition (RAID 1 or similar for fault tolerance)
Operating system	One of the following: Microsoft Windows Server x64 2016 or later with RDS role installed, and RDS Client Licenses per user/device as required. 3rd Party desktop virtualization and application delivery products, such as Citrix. Some virtual desktop platforms may require more memory if OS memory is not shared by multiple users.
Prerequisites	Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 or higher

While Aegis always suggests using the recommended requirements, there are also minimum requirements for those expecting minimal use for less intensive CAD/Visual Aids.
